One of our most frequent questions is, can I take Taijiquan as a substitute for Yoga? Are they pretty much the same? The answer is No, they are not the same. Which one you shouldselect revolves around you and your goals. For example, yoga will improve your muscle tone, but it will not help you drop inches from your waistline. If weight is your problem, you will find even the simplest yoga postures quite challenging to do, because it includes maintaining positions you may find it challenging to acquire to begin with. Tai Chi Chuan, on the other hand, involves gentle movement that strengthens you in a safe fashion. You can achieve cardiovascular fitness through simple meditations that do not even require you to move. You can learn to eliminate stress while standing still. No matter what exercises you choose, though, you must keep with them until you achieve your goals.
